How Etichettalo works
From recipe to approved label, and the concepts you will meet throughout this guide.
Průvodce je k dispozici v italštině a angličtině: zde je uvedena anglická verze.
Etichettalo prepares the mandatory information on food labels from your recipes. You enter ingredients and quantities as you weigh them; it calculates the ingredient list, allergens, QUID and nutrition declaration under Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, for every market and language you enable.
The four steps
- Ingredients. Create the raw materials you use, with the text to print, their allergens and nutrition values. Copy the values from your supplier's specification sheet or from the CREA and USDA databases.
- Product. Build the recipe from ingredients and quantities, set the weight loss, the portion and the net quantity, write the name of the food and the statements.
- Check. The label preview updates while you work; the Completeness panel lists what is missing or needs checking.
- Approval. When the label is right you approve it: a version is created that never changes again, ready to export for printing, to add to catalogs or to the specification sheet.
Key concepts
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Organization | The company or consultancy, with its data, users and settings. Each organization's data is separate. |
| Ingredient | A raw material or bought-in product, with its label text and allergens. |
| Nutrition profile | An ingredient's values per 100 g from one source: a supplier or a database. An ingredient can have several. |
| Product | A recipe with process, texts and markets. It can be a finished product or an intermediate used in other recipes. |
| Market | The set of rules applied: European Union or United Kingdom. Each active market produces its own label. |
| Version | An approved label: a snapshot that does not change, with date and author. |
Who is responsible for the label
Etichettalo applies the rules and warns you when something does not add up, but responsibility for the food information stays with the food business operator (Article 8 of Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011). Always check the preview before printing.
Calculations depend on the data you enter: quantities, weight loss, nutrition values and the allergens declared by suppliers. When you have a supplier's specification sheet, use its values instead of a database average.
