Ingredient allergens
What an ingredient contains, suggestions from the texts and the supplier's "may contain".
Az útmutató olasz és angol nyelven érhető el: itt az angol nyelvű változatot mutatjuk be.
Contains
In the Allergens tab you state, for each of the 14 allergens in Annex II of Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, whether the ingredient contains it. For groups (cereals containing gluten, nuts) you specify which ones: for example wheat or almonds.
What you set here applies whatever the supplier: wheat flour always contains gluten.
Suggestions from the texts
Etichettalo reads the label text and the compound's ingredient list in every language and recognises allergen words ("milk", "hazelnuts", "wheat"…). If it finds an undeclared allergen it suggests it under Possible allergens found in the texts: Confirm to add it, Ignore if the word is a false positive.
The recognised words are the system ones plus those you add in Settings › Allergens (see Allergens on the label).
May contain
Cross-contamination depends on the supplier, so it belongs to the nutrition profile: in May contain (this supplier's spec sheet) list the allergens the specification sheet declares as possible traces. Each profile has its own; in the product the profile used on that row applies.
A product's "may contain" combines:
- the cross-contacts of the profiles used;
- those of the site where the product is made;
- those you add in the product, under Texts and statements.
An allergen already present as "contains" is never repeated in "may contain".
"May contain" is voluntary information: use it only when the risk of contamination is real and cannot be removed by good practice.
