Nutrition declaration
Mandatory and optional values, energy, portion, %RI and rounding (Articles 30-35 and Annexes XIII-XV).
Vodnik je na voljo v italijanščini in angleščini: tukaj je prikazana angleška različica.
Mandatory content
The nutrition table gives, in this order, per 100 g or 100 ml of product (Articles 30 and 32 of Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011):
energy, fat, of which saturates, carbohydrate, of which sugars, protein, salt.
The program calculates the values from the recipe: it adds up the ingredients' nutrients by quantity, removes the water lost with weight loss and scales everything to 100 g of finished product.
- Energy: calculated with the conversion factors of Annex XIV (fat 37 kJ/9 kcal per gram, carbohydrate 17/4, protein 17/4, fibre 8/2, polyols 10/2.4, alcohol 29/7), in kJ and kcal.
- Salt: calculated from sodium, sodium × 2.5 (Annex I). If a profile gives only salt, the program derives the sodium, so you can enter either.
Optional values
In Process and pack › Optional declarations add fibre, mono and polyunsaturates, polyols and starch (Article 30(2)).
Per portion and %RI
If you set a portion, the table adds the per-portion column. The %RI (percentage of the reference intake of an average adult, 8400 kJ/2000 kcal) is shown for energy and nutrients with the values of Annex XIII, Part B, together with the statement "Reference intake of an average adult". In Settings › Labels choose how many decimals to use for %RI.
Rounding
Values are rounded once, on the final value, following the European Commission guidance on tolerances (December 2012):
| Nutrient | Rule |
|---|---|
| Energy | To the whole kJ and kcal |
| Fat, carbohydrate, sugars, fibre, protein, polyols, starch | From 10 g up to the whole number; below 10 g one decimal; up to 0.5 g "0 g" |
| Saturates, mono and polyunsaturates | From 10 g up to the whole number; below 10 g one decimal; up to 0.1 g "0 g" |
| Salt | From 1 g up one decimal; below 1 g two decimals; up to 0.0125 g "0 g" |
When rounding pushes a value into the next band, that band's precision applies: 9.96 g of fat becomes "10 g".
For negligible values choose in Settings › Labels › Negligible values between "0 g" and "<0.5 g" (or "<0.1 g", "<0.01 g" depending on the nutrient). On the same page choose the Saturates wording: "of which saturates" or "of which saturated fat".
Missing values
If an ingredient lacks a nutrient, the program counts it as zero and warns you that the product's value is underestimated. Complete the profiles for reliable values.
