Food databases
CREA and USDA foods with values per 100 g, to turn into ingredients or profiles.
Rokasgrāmata ir pieejama itāļu un angļu valodā: šeit ir redzama angļu valodas versija.
The Food databases section holds foods with nutrition values per 100 g of edible portion, to copy into ingredients when you do not have the supplier's specification sheet.

Finding a food
Type at least two letters: search ignores accents and case and looks at names in every language. Filter by source and category. Choosing a food shows all its values, the source and the database version. USDA names are machine-translated, as a note says.
Using a food
- Create ingredient from this food: a new ingredient with the label text you write and a profile with the copied values.
- Add as profile to an existing ingredient: useful to compare the database with the supplier's sheet.
From a product's composition you can also search the databases directly: foods appear under From reference databases and become an ingredient at once. Etichettalo recognises possible allergens from the name and points them out: always check the label text and allergens on the ingredient page.
Database values are averages. Suppliers' specification sheets remain the best source for the label: use the database when you do not have them, and check the values on your products.
Updates
Databases are updated periodically. Copied profiles do not change by themselves: if a new version changes the values of a food you used, the affected products appear among those to review.
